August saw a major order from Delta Air Lines for 100 737-900ERs. However, the biggest news was the launch of the 737 MAX, the re-engine of the 737-700, -800 and -900ER with CFM LEAP-1B engines. Boeing claims commitments for 496 aircraft from five airlines. As yet, none of these commitments has been logged as a firm order, however it is not likely to be long before this happens. 14 previously unidentified orders for 737-800s were identified as belonging to Air Lease Corporation, and a number of 737s were delivered to Chinese airlines which had previously be listed as unidentified: 1 737-700 for China Eastern, 1 737-800 for Hainan Airlines, 1 737-800 for Shandong Airlines, 1 737-800 for Shanghai Airlines and 2 737-800s for Shenzhen Airlines. GECAS changed one order for a 737-800 to a 737-700, and Turkmenistan Airlines changed two orders for 737-900ERs to 737-800s.
